Fracture Care

Fractures are common and it’s estimated that a person will have two or more fractures in their lifetime.  At Orthopaedic Specialists of Massachusetts, we provide excellent care for bone fractures of any kind.  Trauma to the bone may cause a bone to be completely fractured or partially fractured in any number of ways.  Let our physicians help take care of your fracture and get your broken bone healing quickly and correctly.

Common types of fractures include:

  • OPEN, COMPOUND FRACTURE: The skin may be pierced by the bone or by something that breaks the skin at the time of the fracture
  • TRANSVERSE FRACTURE: A fracture that has a horizontal fracture line
  • OBLIQUE FRACTURE: A fracture that has an angled pattern
  • COMMINUTED FRACTURE: An area of 3 or more fractures within a bone
  • BUCKLE or TORUS FRACTURE: A bone whose ends are driven into each other causing a compression (common in children)
  • SALTER HARRIS ONE FRACTURE: Injury into the bone’s growth plate (common in children)
