Raghuveer Muppavarapu, M.D.
Dr. Muppavarapu earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Chicago where he was in a 7-year early acceptance combined medical and undergraduate program. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Tufts Affiliated Hospitals Orthopedic Residency Program in Boston and his fellowship in orthopaedic upper extremity surgery at the prestigious New York University/Hospital of Joint Diseases in New York City. He is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Medical Center and a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Medicine. These academic and clinical affiliations help Dr. Muppavarapu provide his patients with the most up-to-date and highest quality orthopaedic surgery and hand surgery care.
Dr. Muppavarapu has been listed as a Boston Magazine and Castle Connolly Top Doctor for 3 consecutive years (2022-2024). Dr. Muppavarapu is very passionate about medical education and teaching and is a 3 time winner of the Clinical Preceptor of the Year award for Tufts Medical School. He has authored numerous orthopedic scientific articles and book chapters on injuries of the hand, wrist, and elbow and he lectures both locally and internationally. He is actively involved in research to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Dr. Muppavarapu was inspired by his local orthopaedic surgeon and his own orthopaedic injuries while he was growing up. He believes in helping patients maximize function using a variety of non-operative and operative treatment options. He is affiliated with a number of local hospitals including Norwood Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Carney Hospital, St. Anne’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton.
Dr. Muppavarapu and his wife enjoy spending time outdoors with their two young boys and they live in the western suburbs of Boston.
